Connecting us through the universal language of music

“If you can talk you can sing and if you can walk you can dance”

We believe everyone has an instrument with an innate capacity to express: a body that can create rhythm and movement, a voice for sounds, and a lifetime of stories that can become lyrics.

Our mission is to empower groups - regardless of their musical experience or talent - to collaboratively create and perform new songs about their stories.

Since 2014 over 175 groups on 6 continents from marginalised communities in the City of God in Rio De Janeiro to global corporations such as Vodafone, have discovered their voice and collaboratively created their song.

Who we work with

Born in New York City in 2013 and now based in Sydney Australia, The Human Sound Project’s work has since been taken up across a range of groups on six continents around the world including: corporate groups, not-for-profit organisations, government, eco-villages, schools, communities, conferences and festivals. It has been used for a range of purposes including team buidling, energisers, brand promotion, conflict resolution, inter-generational work, exploring ideas at city-wide festivals, cultural empowerment, and community engagement.

Human Sound Makers

"I think through building a song today, Canteen has proven that they actually have the capability the strength in their vulnerability and the desire to bring their diversity together to really create a meaningful leadership narrative for this organisation"

– Olivia Margot, Consultant with the Global Leadership practice

“What made me fall in love with music was that after my father passed away because of HIV, singing to him was the only way I could express my intense gratitude to him”

- Workshop Participant, Aged 22, Khayelitsha Township Youth Centre, Cape Town, South Africa - The group produced a song entitled “Music is my Soul Provider"

“I felt like I finally got the voice that was stuck in my body, out!"
