We were invited by Cumberland Council to celebrate The International Day of People with Disability where participants gathered together and collaboratively created a song called “Always better when it’s me and you” about all the things that they love to do and bring them joy in life.

Everyone had a great time singing, dancing, and expressing their unique voices. We loved to see the participants embrace the experience and show what an amazing tool music can be in bringing out hidden talents and abilities.

The International Day of People with Disability aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions in society.

Each year there is a theme to observe for International Day of People with Disability that provides an overarching focus on how society can strive for inclusivity through the removal of physical, technological and attitudinal barriers for people with disability. This years theme was ‘Promoting the participation of persons with disabilities and their leadership: taking action on the 2030 Development Agenda’.
