19th July 2014 – The Human Sound Project was invited to collaborate with renowned Cape Town designer Heath Nash to run a workshop at the Cape Town World Music Festival.
The theme we chose to explore was ‘making’ – What motivates us to make/create/design? What hinders us? What about audiences; what role do they play in what we make? Heath Nash led the discussion while words, phrases and quotes were transcribed in the conversation. These were then used to form lyrics. The lyrics and the themes contained in the lyrics were used to inspire the awesome human sounds that were made.
We had an incredible circle sing, beat making session and some of the raps/solos were also awesome. The energy on the day was in no uncertain terms infectious.
A bit shout out to the Ubuntu Academy who brought around 20 of their talented young people to take part in the workshop – you guys rocked it.
